Acne results from hyperactive sebum-producing glands, whether for genetic or hormonal reasons. Excess sebum clogs the pores of the skin, producing blackheads or whiteheads, depending on whether the pore is open or closed. When the pore is closed, the gland may rupture, which will release inflammation factors that produce red bumps (or pimples) on the face. A bacteria called propionibacterium acnes may also play a role.
There are many ways to treat acne, including creams, oral antibiotics and isotretinoin (Accutane). Many are even covered by RAMQ. There are also cosmetic approaches (not covered by RAMQ) to treat acne, such as facials with blackhead removal, the use of blue light to reduce skin inflammation or ablative radiofrequency. Clinique D’s professionals can also offer you several methods to treat the various forms of scars that can result from acne, such as pulsed dye laser, ablative radiofrequency or microneedling.
Our cosmetic treatments are designed to respect your age and your personality and are aimed at a select clientele who share our vision of realism, discretion and the well-being of the patient.
